'Hot Set' started life as a musing on what would constitute the perfect kiss. Spending hours of life boxed into heavy Sydney traffic actually had a positive outcome one day when I imagined that kiss would be something illicit, unexpected and the result of an emotive build-up. I arrived at work and the moment my computer started up, I quickly composed the shell of the story and emailed it home. An embarrassingly large number of years later, this story was released in June 2013.
The characters are employed within the oft-misunderstood Hollywood and Australian film industries. It is set in the majestic, spiritual wilderness of the Central Australian desert, the bright lights of Los Angeles and sprawling Sydney. The book follows the journey of four individuals and the havoc of an ensuing unexpected, unwanted attraction:
Kate is a small-time soap opera actress, content with remaining 'small screen' because she can still be relatively anonymous whilst still doing the profession she loves. She decides to try movies and to her surprise, wins the first role she applies for on an Australian independent film. It is from here things start going down a dark tangent.
Mark is Kate's husband and is a straight-laced architect ten-years her senior who adores his wife but not so much her career. Mark harbors an untreated phobia which threatens their marriage.
Rhys is a handsome, much-loved, A-list Hollywood movie star with all the associated trappings of success and glory. He meets Kate on the set of the Australian film and finds himself inexplicably attracted to her, despite his best efforts to remain committed to his girlfriend.
Amelia is Rhys's girlfriend, a stunning Hollywood actress with a dismal past. She wins Rhys's affections but is fearful of losing him, knowing her tentative position in Tinsel Town relies on their relationship; a position she needs in order to seek retribution for the sad events of her childhood. She'd do anything to keep him by her side.
'Hot Set' is a story ideal for people who enjoy humour, sexy love scenes with a purpose and plausible characters facing complicated, far-reaching life decisions.

This book continues with the story of Kate, Rhys and Amelia as they struggle to escape the legacies of their upbringings and forge a path of their own. Who really wields the power?
Kate recovers slowly from the horrific car crash which kills her husband. A year later, she is enticed to Sydney for a sequel to their hit movie The Ancestor Rock and when there, places her heart in Rhys's hands. What will the bright lights of Hollywood hold for her?
